    PENARTH

    Special Note:

The cottage on “Penarth”, which has been used frequently by Society members in the past, is currently used by the property owners themselves. It will become available again for use by third parties from 2012 onwards. However, members who are staying on “The Retreat” or “Billabong Cottage” can continue to fish the Penarth waters (Fish River Creek, as well as the Penarth farm dam) during the weekends listed.

Penarth has approximately 4 to 5 kilometres of fishable creek frontage on Fish River creek which is the only spawning stream for Oberon Dam. In past years the creek on Penarth fished very well in the early season with many good sized lake rainbows and browns from the Oberon Dam still present after their winter spawning runs. Water condition is dependant on rainfalls, can be anything from low and clear to high and discoloured.
In addition to the creek fishing, there is a farm dam which is regularly stocked.

JINDABYNE

Lakeside accommodation will be provided at ‘PLATYPUS TOWNHOUSE’.
The cottage is usually booked for seven nights in total and whilst it would be preferable for members and their guests to stay seven nights it is not essential.
Short stays are welcome but subject to availability. The Lodge accommodates six people in three bedrooms and two bathrooms with bed linen and towels provided.

In the past years, the river fishing in the Thredbo River in November has been excellent with large numbers of late spawning rainbows and many resident browns present.  The quality of the lake fishing depends on the lake levels – in turn driven by winter snowfalls – but normally offers good daytime polaroiding along the shore line.  Plus, of course, unlimited early morning/evening/night fishing right outside the lodge!
